Pastor Shelton James Brown, Jr. is a man of many passions including seeking and serving God, witnessing to the lost, caring for his family, preaching and teaching the Word of God and impacting the community, especially youth.  He currently serves as the Senior Pastor/Teacher of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church of Covington, Georgia. 

 

His first call is to be a dynamic husband and father to his wife Charneika C. Brown and their daughters Symone and Sasha. He was reared in the Middle Georgia area, in a Christian family by Shelton and Nancy Brown, Sr. He joined Athena and they were later joined by Fantasia. Currently, he and his wife are uncle and aunt to 11. Family and faith go hand in hand in his life.

 

He was reared in a Christian home and came from a lineage that valued service to God and His church. With a legacy of sacrifice and service for the cause of Christ, his Christian walk began in Beulahland (Missionary Baptist) Bible Church. At the age of 12, he first heard the voice of God calling him to salvation and a deeper walk with Him. Subsequently, at 16 he followed in his grandfather’s (Rev. Lee James Brown) footsteps when he accepted the call to preach the Word of God.

After accepting his call he entered training that encompassed a five year period and culminated with him being officially licensed to the gospel ministry on April 3, 2005. He was privileged to be tutored under Pastor E. Dewey Smith, Jr. and Dr. Maurice Watson. He served in many capacities while at Beulahland including but not limited to Youth Leader, Sunday School teacher, New Members Coordinator, Class 201 teacher, Children Church teacher, Children’s Ministry Committee, intercessory prayer ministry, Minister of Congregational Care – New Members & Assimilation.

 

Previously he served as pastor of Rehoboth Family Worship Center in Macon, GA.  He is also a high school marketing teacher and DECA advisor. He has studied at Macon State College (now known as Middle Georgia State University) and Georgia College and State University receiving a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Information Technology and a Masters of Arts in Teaching with an emphasis in Business Education, respectfully. 

 

His other passions include youth and the elderly. His greatest concern is carrying out the great commission and fulfilling the great commandment.
